Here are some photos from 26th April — mostly involving what happens if the cubs have a chance to investigate some bread… (Bread on its own isn’t that great for young animals, but this was put out for the birds alongside the standard fox food. The cubs spent most of their time playing with it rather than eating it.)
I shall spoil you, I tell you. More photos here, this time from April 24th. (The cubs are bigger now, but still just as cute, and I will be uploading a whole bunch more photos…)
Any of you who have been reading this blog for a while — or probably any time longer than a day or two — may have formed the idea that fox cubs are naturally boisterous. Well, yes. If you’re a vixen with cubs, you’ll very soon get used to being climbed on, played on, played with, and chewed.
Definitely chewed.
However, if you are a small cub, you may wish to be aware that your head will fit in your mother’s mouth… if she wanted it to.
(Yes, photos a little noisy, sorry; the light was fading fast but I thought they were amusing enough to post anyhow…)
I’ve uploaded some more compilations of each day’s furry cuteness — you’ll find them below the cut. These are from 27th – 29th April (catching up, even if slowly)
I know, I know; rather behind at the moment. It’s the same problem as last year; at this time of year, we’re generating photos and video faster than I can sort through them!
On May 1st, we saw some rather unusual behaviour. Mr and Mrs Fox are both still present in the lives of their cubs, as previously mentioned. Mr Fox came out to partake of the evening’s food, and while Mrs Fox seemed quite keen that some of it should be hers and not his, one of the cubs was absolutely adamant that this was HIS food. (Or, maybe, his mother’s.) In any case, the fearsome cub — ears raked back and teeth bared — managed to quite effectively chase his father away from the feeding area… see below.
